went to 62nd Division

Was formed on Salisbury Plain in Sep. 1914. In Oct. 1914 it was at Lyndhurst as part of 2/1st Hampshire Brigade in 2nd Wessex Division. In Dec. 1914 the battalion embarked from Southampton and arrived at Bombay on 4 Jan. 1915. In March 1917 it was transferred to Egypt, arriving at Ismailia on 5 April 1917. It was assigned to 232nd Brigade in 75th Division. It ended the war in Aug. 1918 and was disbanded in Palestine, transferring 5 officers and 300 men to the 1/4th Wiltshire Regiment.
