10th (Irish) Division

10th Battalion Hampshire Regt.

British units only.

Formed in Ireland in August 1914 as part of the First New Army. The Division served in Gallipoli, Macedonia and Palestine. Between April and May 1918 the Division was reduced to one British Battalion per Brigade, the shortfall was made up with Indian units. The Division remained in Palestine until the Armistice (31 October 1918).

29th Brigade.

5th Bn Royal Irish Regt. 29 Aug 1914 - Jun 1915. Became the Pioneer Bn.
10th Bn Hampshire Regt. Mar 1915 - Oct 1915. To the 27th Division.
6th Bn Royal Irish Rifles. Aug 1914 - 15 May 1918. Disbanded.
5th Bn Connaught Rangers. Sep 1914 - 29 Apr 1918. To the 66th Division.
1st Bn Leinster Regt. 02 Nov 1916 - 31 Oct 1918.
6th Bn Leinster Regt. Aug 1914 - 02 May 1918. To the 14th Division.

30th Brigade.

1st Bn Royal Irish Regt. 03 Nov 1916 - 31 Oct 1918.
6th Bn Royal Munster Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 30 Apr 1918. Went to France. Reduced to Cadre on 05 Jun 1918, surplus personnel to the 2nd Bn, the Cadre then went to the 39th Division.
7th Bn Royal Munster Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 03 Nov 1916. Absorbed by the 6th Bn.
6th Bn Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 27 May 1918. To the 66th Division.
7th Bn Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - Apr 1918. Went to France. Reduced to Cadre on 06 Jun 1918, surplus personnel to the 2nd Bn, the Cadre then went to the 16th Division.

31st Brigade.

38th Bn Royal Fusiliers. 11 Jun 1918 - 17 Jul 1918. To the 60th Division.
5th Bn Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 28 May 1918. To the 66th Division.
6th Bn Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 02 May 1918. To the 14th Division.
2nd Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers. 02 Nov 1916 - 31 Oct 1918.
5th Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 30 Apr 1918. To the 14th Division.
6th Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers. Aug 1914 - 02 Nov 1916. Absorbed by the 5th Bn.
